King George V Gibraltar Stamps: 1921-1932

The 1d., 3d., 6d. and 2s. were issued in different colours during this period, also that the lower values up to and including the 3d., are printed on ordinary paper only, while the higher values are on chalky paper. The lower values are found printed from Plate 2, while the higher values from Plate 1. The Jubilee line is in some cases single and in some cases double.

The new values were issued with the same watermark (Multiple Script CA) and the same perforation (14), on chalk surfaced paper (except SG 102a 1s. Olive and Black).

The high values stamps (2s. - ?5) of this issue are reputed to exist with the value tablet in both black and grey-brown. Where they do exist, they are in two quite distinct shades, and the most reliable method of establishing which shade was printed first is by comparison with the SPECIMEN overprint.
